Englewood, Colo. − Arrow Electronics Inc. has signed an agreement to acquire Computerlinks, a value-added distributor, in Munich, Germany, for approximately $300 million. The roughly $950-million IT solutions distributor has operations in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia, and is expected to expand Arrow’s Enterprise Computing Solutions’ geographic footprint and product offerings.
“This acquisition supports our strategy to serve the data center of the future and strengthens our position in this rapidly growing segment. We are excited to welcome the Computerlinks team to Arrow,” said Michael J. Long, chairman, president and CEO of Arrow, in a statement.
The acquisition is expected to be $.20 to $.24 accretive to earnings per share, excluding the impact of the amortization of related intangible assets, in the first year post closing, stated Arrow. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Arrow has continued to beef up its IT offerings in 2013 with several new line additions. Most recently, Arrow inked a deal to distribute Shavlik’s Protect and SCUPDates patch-management solutions in the United States and Canada. The products may be used by organizations of all sizes and in any industry. LANDesk Software recently acquired the Shavlik product portfolio from VMware.
Other IT line expansions include the addition of Emerson Network Power’s Liebert infrastructure support products, which adds to its existing Emerson offerings in the U.S. The Liebert products include data center solutions ranging from power and cooling, monitoring and surge protection technology, as well as data center and networking services.
Arrow also extended its North American distribution agreement with SafeNet, addressing increased demand for data security and compliance solutions for virtualized and storage environments. This expands the existing agreement for authentication solutions, which now includes the entire data protection portfolio in North America.
Under the new agreement, Arrow’s enterprise computing solutions segment offers SafeNet’s complete portfolio of data protection solutions, including ProtectV, a data encryption solution for virtualized and cloud environments, and StorageSecure, a high-assurance encryption appliance for network attached storage (NAS).
