Hong Kong - September 25th, 2013 marks the worldwide launch of Lenovo's Yoga 2 Pro Laptop. As the second generation model of the widely acclaimed Yoga ultrabook, the Yoga 2 is Lenovo's star laptop for 2013 and 2014. In addition to outstanding professional performance, this model also comes with TUV Rheinland's green product certification, making it one of the few green product certified laptops available now.
The Yoga 2 is also the first laptop that TUV Rheinland has certified as green. On September 26th Lutz Frankholz, the COO of TUV Rheinland Shanghai, and Du Jiang, General Manager of TUV Rheinland Greater China Electrical Sales etc. presented Yuan Kang, Executive Director of Lenovo's LBG PCD NB Product Development with this pioneering certificate at Lenovo's Shanghai R&D center.
TUV Rheinland is an internationally renowned and independent third party testing, inspection, and certification body. This is latest in a history of cooperation between these two firms, as Lenovo's ThinkVision LT2323z VoIP monitor, ThinkCentre M92z all-in-one PC, and ThinkCentre M93p tower PC all received comprehensive green product certifications. Lenovo's fourth green product certification by TUV Rheinland's signifies that both companies will continue to cooperate regarding IT product environmental protection certification and export market standards. These two firms vow to work together for the development of green, environmentally friendly electronic products in the international market.
TUV Rheinland's green certification is the result of many different tests performed on a given product. Common international environmental standards include energy efficiency, WEEE, product carbon footprint, recycled material verification, avoidance of hazardous materials, and other international regulations. The Yoga 2 Pro laptop underwent multiple inspections in TUV Rheinland's professional testing facilities regarding product energy efficiency, avoidance of hazardous chemicals, and carbon footprint. It performed especially well in terms of product carbon footprint, making it a leader in environmentally friendly laptops with its ultra-low carbon emissions volume.
Not only does TUV Rheinland provide testing and solutions for green products, it also views environmentally friendly practices and sustainable development as key values in the company's vision. For example, in 2011 both parties signed a service agreement for the safe disposal and recycling of used office electronics such as laptops, tower PCs, printers, monitors, and servers.
"We hope that TUV Rheinland's green certification will become a concrete example of how companies can minimize harm to the environment and take social responsibility. We will aid companies in fulfilling their promises to brand companies and retailers regarding green energy, green product design, corporate carbon footprint, green living, and more. With this green certification, companies can more rapidly enter the global market and establish competitive advantage. A third-party certified green market is irrefutable evidence for international buyers that the product or system abides by international environmental protection standards," said Du Jiang, General Manager of TUV Rheinland Greater China Electrical Sales.
"As the world’s largest PC manufacturer, Lenovo is dedicated to setting a benchmark for the promotion of green IT concepts and to lead the industry and public into assertive actions to protect the environment," stated Yuan Kang, senior director of Lenovo's laptop R&D department.
