Miami, Fla. −Raltron Electronics Corp. has claimed the industry's smallest microprocessor crystal with the introduction of its Model R1612, housed in a 1.6 x 1.2 x 0.4 mm ceramic package. Target applications include embedded computing devices, cameras, wearable devices, storage, personal digital devices, wireless applications, microprocessor and DSP clocks, portable medical devices, alarms, utility metering, and other high-density applications.
The R1612 surface-mount crystal is said to use approximately 50 percent less surface area than most typical crystals on the market. The device offers a frequency range of 26 MHz to 60 MHz, with wider usage frequencies of 26, 27, 32, 40, and 50 MHz. The available frequency tolerances at room temperature are l5 ppm and 30 ppm, and the temperature stability ranges from 10 ppm to 50 ppm. The standard operating temperature range is -10°C to +60°C standard. The crystal is also available in an extended temperature range of -20°C to +75°C.
