Minneapolis, Minn. − Omnetics Connector Corp. has developed a line of Nano miniature connectors that provide up to 2 Gbits/s speed in extremely rugged environments. Delivering size and weight reduction, along with higher speed, these connectors are suitable for military applications including rugged and miniaturized surveillance and communications equipment such as helicopter systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and future soldiers.
These Nano miniature connectors are used to connect impedance-controlled cable systems to provide high signal integrity for high-speed Gigabit signal processing requirements between components and systems in highly rugged environments. They feature all-metal shells and shielded cable.
Omnetics said the interconnects use its standard line of nano-sized Bi-lobe connectors at .025" pitch that are mated with high-speed cable using differential signal hook-up methods that include dedicated drain wires to achieve the highest speeds possible. These are smaller than previous versions available at .050" pitch and larger mil-spec circular connectors such as the 38999 that are used in the same applications.
