New Bedford, Mass. -- Cornell Dubilier Electronics, Inc. (CDE) has released the type HZA hybrid polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The HZA capacitors offer the ultra-low equivalent series resistance (ESR) characteristics of conductive aluminum polymer capacitors packaged in a V-chip, SMT case, with high capacitance and voltage ratings previously available only in aluminum electrolytic technology.
The HZA capacitors offer capacitance values from 10 to 330 µF at voltage ratings from 25 to 80 VDC and ripple current values exceeding 2000 mA for some of the larger chip sizes. When operated at their rated temperature of 105°C and rated voltage at full ripple current load, type HZA capacitors provide a long life of 10,000 hours.
The vertical cylindrical cases make the HZA capacitors easier for automatic mounting. They also meet 260°C high reflow soldering temperature. The devices are RoHS compliant.
These capacitors can be used for filtering, bypassing and power supply decoupling with long life requirements. They are also well suited for high-density printed-circuit-board (PCB) designs.
"The hybrid series gives the design engineer the best of both worlds" said Holly Good, product manager, in a statement. "They also have superior smoothing performance at higher switching frequencies and lower temperatures."
