Omnetics Connector Corp. has announced a new line of Metal Nano-Connectors. These interconnects are high-density, multi-position connectors made with break-away or threaded metal housings for a positive lock and environmental seal. Built to meet or exceed military specifications, the small, lightweight connectors target mission-critical applications where size, weight and reliability are critical, such as onboard unmanned aerial vehicles (UAMs).
The rugged military-quality connectors meet the requirements of UAMs that need to operate under a wide range of environmental conditions, including high shock and vibration, and stay aloft for long periods of time, said Omnetics. The connectors survive ruggedness tests even beyond military specifications, said the company. Temperature ranges exceed +200ºC, and locking screws hold all connections together securely even during tough landings.
Board-mounted versions mate up with pre-wired connector/cables for instrument wiring. The connectors are available in four shell sizes: 6, 11, 16, and 28 positions arranged on a .025” (.64 mm) pitch and are capable of 1 amp per contact. They can be configured with different levels of waterproof sealing up to IP68. A variety of shell material and finishes are available including nickel-plated brass and black oxide stainless steel.
Availability: Standard designs are available off the shelf and meet military specifications.
