Newton, Mass. - C&K Components has developed a series of ultra-low-profile, top-actuated tactile switches with extended operating lifecycles up to 500,000. The surface-mount switches measure 3.7 mm x 3.7 mm with a board-mounted profile of 0.35 mm.
The single-pole, single-throw (SPST) PTS 540 Series of tactile switches are RoHS-compliant and offer a selection of operating force ratings and operating lifecycles (160 gf ±50; 500,000 cycles, black casing, and 230 gf ±50; 200,000 cycles, gray casing). The switches feature a travel distance of 0.15 mm ±0.1 mm and bounce time of less than 10 ms. Contacts are rated for 50 mA (max) and 12 VDC (max). Operating temperature range is -30°C to 85°C.
"The PTS 540 Series switches are designed to save space, especially in the profile dimension, within today's miniaturized portable electronic devices, such as MP3 accessories, Bluetooth headsets and remote control devices," said Jerome Smolinski, senior product manager at C&K Components, in a statement. "With a choice of actuating forces and operational lifecycles up to 500,000, they are well-suited for a wide variety of rugged consumer devices."
Availability: The PTS 540 Series switches are sold in 10,000-piece tape-and-reel packaging. Engineering samples are currently available.
