Newark, Calif. – SPEC Sensors has launched a gas sensor development kit for OEMs developing applications for the smart home and wearables. The Gas Sensor Developer Kit, comprised of SPEC’s small and low-profile electromechanical gas sensors, is designed to help OEMs quickly evaluate the new gas sensing products in the lab and integrate into new designs, including carbon monoxide alarms, air quality monitoring and breath analysis.
The company has been able to overcome the size challenge by using a proprietary manufacturing process for screen-printed electrochemical sensors that shrink the size of the sensors, making them suitable for consumer devices. “Electrochemical gas sensing technology is the preferred solution for these applications due to measurement performance and ultra-low power consumption needed for battery operation,” according to SPEC Sensors.
The Gas Sensor Developer Kit consists of a Reference Potentiostat PCB for quick gas sensor evaluation in the lab, along with its complete design (schematic, parts list, and Gerber files).
Availability: The development kit is available now with sensors available in mass market volumes.
