The advent of social networking has significantly altered our behavior as consumers but also professionals. The need to stay connected to a community is now firmly anchored. Riding this wave, Supplyeo, a new professional social network, arrives with the ambition to create the largest community of supply chain professionals.
Launched nearly two years ago, the idea of a specialized social network took time to mature before emerging on July 1st, 2014. The conclusion was simple: professional social networks like LinkedIn and Viadeo are too general. Information flows about supply chain are flooded among general informations. Brahim Marchouhi, Supplyeo’s founder explains: “I discovered the professional social networks a few years ago, at first in a job search process before getting a taste for it and becoming much more active, especially in groups. The main obstacle of these social networks is that you need to know how to sort… which represents a big waste of time!”
“I started to think about a model that could answer to this issue, then I noticed that a new trend was born: the niche social networks,” added Brahim Marchouhi, “since that, I developped the idea until getting the very satisfying result we have today.”
A range of functionality to facilitate trades
Like the two giants Viadeo and LinkedIn, Supplyeo offers similar services. After the classic steps for registration and profile creation, the member will discover a multitude of features: jobs, news, videos, blogs, business pages, events, groups, directories … nothing has been forgotten. “We also provided an e-commerce section to allow users to make their purchases online, partnerships are being negotiated with e-tailers to give members special rates,” said Brahim Marchouhi. “Thereby, they could discover e-tailers products and complete their purchases on their sites with a discount coupon. ”
Members could also submit ads to sell their books, safety shoes, trucks and used forklifts. According to Brahim Marchouhi: “We went one step further by incorporating a free classified ads section but also a logistics real estate space to gather rentals and sales offers of commercial properties, offices, warehouses or platforms .”
Brahim Marchouhi concludes: “We decided to make Supplyeo completely free, the aim is to create the largest community of supply chain professionals, so we had to break the barrier of a paid subscription. The only condition for registering is to work in one of the functions of the supply chain. ”
