Pleasant Prairie, WI –CHERRY recently announced that their new line of Energy Harvesting products will debut mid-year 2015. Leading the way will be the compact yet powerful energy harvesting generator (available with RF electronics – 868 MHz / 915 MHz using ZF’s proprietary protocol) as well as a snap-action microswitch and rocker switch (also offered in 868 MHz & 915 MHz, ZF Protocol antenna).
This CHERRY Energy Harvesting generator is able to generate its own power, store the power in a chip and transmit a signal via RF technology without the use of wires or batteries. The generator can be housed in one of the standard CHERRY switch products (snap action switch or rocker switch), or a custom assembly.
“We have been very anxious to bring our Energy Harvesting products to market”, said Ryan Eder, CHERRY Marketing Manager. “Our snap-action switch, as well as our rocker switch will be highly unique; not only do they require no wires or batteries, but there is very little like them available in the marketplace”.
With production now underway, CHERRY is beginning to work with their franchised distribution partners to get product on the shelf and available to the market. With distributors stocking CHERRY Energy Harvesting products over the next month or two, it is expected that product will be available mid-year.
“The wide array of potential applications is mind-blowing”, said Eder. “With one of the primary benefits being that these products can eliminate the use of wires, we expected lighting to be a primary target market. We were right, but in addition to commercial, industrial and residential lighting we are seeing very large interest from aftermarket lighting accessories in automotive, marine and recreational vehicles as well. Furthermore, foot pedal applications, medical devices and remote door accessibility (handicap access for example) are also a few examples of perfect applications for these products”.
Also coming to the market around the same timeframe is a CHERRY receiver (868 MHz / 915 MHz, ZF Protocol wire antenna, RS232 TTL). The receiver will be equipped with “Easy Mode” pairing; making pairing the switches and receiver possible in just a few quick steps.
