Premier Farnell has announced that Tom Hudak, president of Chicago-based Newark element14, its North American distribution business, has resigned from his position effective July 1, 2015. Gert Labuschagne, chief strategy and marketing officer, will take over control of Sales and Marketing at Newark element14. He will be supported by Pat Milbourne, currently Newark element14 SVP finance, who will become acting deputy business president, Sales and Marketing, for Newark element14 while the recruitment of a permanent replacement is carried out, according to Premier Farnell.
The announcement comes less than two years after Hudak took the helm of the North American distribution business. Tom Hudak joined Newark element14 in November 2013 following five years as president of Akron Brass, another Premier Farnell company and worldwide marketer and manufacturer of high performance life-safety, fire fighting and emergency rescue equipment. He succeeded Paul Buckley as president of the North American distribution.
Over the past year, Hudak focused on improving the distributor’s website, call center and outside sales people to drive the distributor's performance to a world-class level. His vision for the company was to achieve success in three areas. At the time, Hudak said: "we want to be a great company to do business with; a great company to invest in; and a great company to work for."
Newark element14, a top ten distributor in North America, grew its sales by less than one percent in 2014, after posting a three percent drop in 2013
“I am clearly disappointed to see Tom leave the business. He has been a tremendous asset to the Premier Farnell Group over the past seven years. I would like to wish him every success in the future,” said Premier Farnell CEO Laurence Bain, in a statement.
“While we recruit for the role I am I am delighted Pat Milbourne has agreed to support Gert as acting deputy business president, Sales and Marketing. Pat understands our North American business very well and I know we will be in safe hands in the months ahead," Bain further stated.
