Smith & Associates, the largest independent distributor of electronic components, today announces the launch of its expanded purchase price variance (PPV) cost savings program and accompanying informational campaign. This campaign, which uses the medium of vintage-style comic books and advertisements, will provide Smith a lighthearted way to promote a serious service for electronics manufacturers.
Smith’s PPV program is designed to identify cost-savings opportunities on components such as HDDs, CPUs, panels, memory, ODDs, and ICs for electronics-industry OEMs and CEMs. Utilizing PartMatch, Smith’s in-house PPV software, Smith’s PPV specialists are able to tap into the most current global data on component market pricing and supply to quickly identify savings for customers.
Now, Smith is expanding its flagship PPV program in response to evolving supply chain dynamics that show an increasing need for customer pricing support. The company is redoubling its resources and focus on this program, revamping its PPV offerings and expanding Smith’s global PPV team to meet growing customer demand.
Smith is introducing a new face to represent this revamped program: PPV Man, a “superhero” who is the main character of new comics illustrating supply chain adventures. Along with his lab-technician-by-day teammate, Captain Quality, PPV Man battles Standard Pricing and other supply chain antagonists in these short comics.
“Smith’s new comics dramatize the day-to-day struggles purchasing professionals face and the ways Smith can help make their jobs easier,” said Mark Bollinger, Smith & Associates’ Vice President of Marketing. “These storylines and characters offer Smith a fun way to show our customers how our expanded PPV program can help them get the best pricing, quality, and service.”
The comics, The Adventures of PPV Man, are currently available to readers in English, and will soon also be released in Chinese.
