Costa Mesa, Calif. – Identifying and reporting on the materials used in electronics components continues to be a challenge for buyers in the electronics industry. This has become a moving target as regulations expand and more materials are banned. In an effort to help its customers meet environmental compliance requirements, Ecliptek Corp., a crystal and oscillator manufacturer, has upgraded its My Parts List app to send email notifications whenever the compliance status of saved part numbers is updated.
The driver behind the upgraded app was customer feedback that highlighted global regulatory compliance as a growing priority, said Ecliptek. This latest update is part of Ecliptek's Self-Service Documentation initiative, launched in April 2015.
The advanced self-service documentation tools provide access to data sheets, REACH, RoHS, China RoHS, IPC-1752 Material Declarations, qualification and reliability reports, and conflict mineral documentation for more than three million verified Ecliptek part numbers. It should be noted that the U.S. appeals court recently “ruled that the government cannot compel companies to report whether or not their products contain ‘conflict minerals’ -- gold, tantalum, tin, and tungsten-- mined from regions in Africa, causing additional confusion in the electronics industry.”
Here’s how the Ecliptek tool works: “Customers can generate a part number specific REACH compliance statement or view the REACH compliance status on every part number or series level data sheet. Users who prefer to download and save the PDF part number specific data sheets for future reference can click on the update link within the document that will display the latest compliance information.”
With the new upgrade, users will receive emails when any of their parts are updated with a new level of compliance, such as the recent change in REACH from 161 Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) to 163 SVHC, or the new EU RoHS Directive 2015/863, said the company.
By using the My Parts List app users can maintain a personalized list of favorite Ecliptek part numbers, which includes recording their own part numbers and project notes for each part. The new email notifications will include their referenced part numbers, and provide direct links to the latest compliance docs.
