Smyrna, Ga. – Murata Americas released its SVK3 series, touted as the industry’s most precise surface-mount type rotary position sensors. The low-profile devices deliver a linearity of ±1%. They also achieve twice the precision of previous products and can withstand temperature ranges required by the automotive market, said Murata.
The SVK3 sensors, which measure W11 × L12 × T2.1 mm and weigh 0.4 g, feature a resistance of 10 kohms and an angle of rotary movement of 333.3 degrees. The physical parameters of the SVK3 rotary position sensors are identical to the preceding SV03 series, allowing them to be used as direct replacements without the need for additional design changes or performance degradation, said Murata. Other specs include a temperature range of -40 to 125 degrees C and a service life of 300,000 cycles, which meet requirements for automotive applications.
Murata said it developed the SVK3 series in response to increased demand for electronic rotary switch devices in automotive applications. These include as feedback control devices in drive motors and as temperature and airflow adjustment switches in automobile air conditioning systems as well as to detect the rotation state (angle) of motors or switches in these devices, said Murata.
