Irvine, Calif. – Having recently expanded its presence in Asia Pacific, Conexant Systems Inc., an audio and imaging innovation leader, today announced that it has completed the build out of its new AudioSmart™ test facility in Taipei’s Technology Corridor. By making a significant investment in this new acoustical engineering and test facility in Taipei, Conexant has more than doubled its global test capabilities.
The new facility allows Conexant to replicate the acoustic design, tuning and verification capabilities that are currently offered from its California headquarters, thereby enabling the company to provide localized support to better serve customers in Taiwan. The new testing facility eliminates the need to navigate time differences and physically ship systems between regions. The result is that OEMs benefit from reduced expenses and faster time-to-market.
By supporting best-in-class acoustical subsystem design and audio hardware/software system validation locally, Conexant is also helping Taiwan-based OEM teams to minimize certification lab expenses. Conexant’s new 1,500 square meter (approximately 16,000 square feet) facility in Taiwan includes state-of-the-art anechoic and reverberant test chambers that are authority-certified to meet governing (ISO/ETSI) standards. Featuring cutting-edge hardware and software test equipment from leading suppliers such as HEAD Acoustics and Rohde & Schwarz, the new facility has the ability to perform the iterative testing necessary to achieve Microsoft Skype for Business, Cortana Premium, and Intel Automated Speech Recognition certifications. To further ensure a seamless certification process, Conexant’s expertly trained test engineers work closely with certifying bodies, including MSFT and PAL Labs.
“Built to accommodate our continued growth in Asia Pacific, our new Taiwan facility works in tandem with our U.S. facilities to provide testing and certification services around the clock,” noted Saleel Awsare, Conexant senior vice president and general manager. “This global coverage allows us to quickly respond to our customers’ needs, and enables us to more rapidly answer end users’ demand for an elevated, exceptional audio experience.” Awsare notes that Conexant has already certified 10 platforms for Microsoft Skype for Business at its new facility with a success rate of 100 percent.
