ECIA is pleased to announce the 2017 Regional Series returns to the Dallas area on Tuesday, August 8th at the Sheraton Dallas/Ft Worth. The following speakers will present on topics that have become increasingly critical business issues for the industry.
Jeff Shaffer, Director PricewaterhouseCoopers brings his background with the Secret Service to kick off the event with an update on "Cybersecurity Trends."
The rise in cybercrime is well documented. New technologies, well-funded and determined adversaries, and interconnected ecosystems have combined to increase exposure to cyberattacks. Your critical digital assets are being targeted at an unprecedented rate and the potential impact has never been greater. Learn about the trends in cybersecurity and how to better protect your business from digital attacks.
Jeff joined PwC in 2015 after 25 years with the U.S. Secret Service. He has extensive experience as an investigator, physical and personal protection specialist, counter terrorism specialist, Team Leader and digital forensic examiner.
Next up, Ed Baca, IoT Technical Marketing Manager, TTI, Inc. explains "The Implementation of the Internet of Things."
Research company Gartner estimates that by 2020 there will be over 26 billion connected devices; others estimate this number to be much higher, possibly over 100 billion. The Internet of Things is here - so what impact will it have on your business? The concept and implementation of Internet of Things is not as complicated as you might think. Ed Baca will explore the implications of IoT and de-mystify the solutions needed to build a complete IoT system.
Ed recently joined TTI Inc. as an IoT Technical Marketing Manager. He has enjoyed a long career in the electronic components industry and brings a wealth of insight. Prior to TTI, Ed was with Avnet for 12 years serving in a variety of technical roles including Senior Technical Marketing Engineer, Business Development Manager, Regional Technical Manager directing FAEs, and he spent time as a Senior FAE.
"These two topics are fascinating in themselves and also when considered in tandem: as the IoT takes over more of our lives, we are exposed to cyber threats in unexpected ways," noted Debbie Conyers, ECIA vice president of member engagement. "I expect the discussion will be lively, and I look forward to spending time with our Texas area members."
Registration is now open for the August event. Company executives and branch personnel - along with their customers and supply chain partners - should plan to attend and enjoy a hosted social hour and dinner. The meeting provides an excellent avenue to introduce your local team to the association and area industry peers.
