French startup PRECOGS is opening their marketplace platform for access to EMS-OEM-ODM businesses and component distributors across the globe, after the successful completion of a €2.5m, two-year research and development project with EMS’s LACROIX Electronics and ÉOLANE. The project was conducted with funding awarded to PRECOGS as a winner of the Concours Mondial de l’Innovation (Worldwide Innovation Challenge), part of the French government’s Commission Innovation 2030.
PRECOGS’ platform allows buyers of electronic components to directly connect their ERP with a global component marketplace, filling their needs based on predetermined strategies for price, quality and availability. Dominique Chanteau, VP Purchasing at LACROIX Electronics, said “This program ties in perfectly with our electronics plant of the future, SYMBIOSE, which simultaneously integrates Industry 4.0 practices, environmental considerations and the development of our teams. Purchasing performance is central to this industrial renewal. PRECOGS results have surpassed our expectations and we are proud to have collaborated towards their success, having worked together since 2013.”
The Commission Innovation 2030 was created in 2013 by the office of the President of the French Republic, identifying seven areas of strategic innovations for the French economy. PRECOGS won recognition within the area of ‘Big-Data’ and this recognition and the accompanying financial support led to this research project with LACROIX Electronics and ÉOLANE. Claude Valenza, Global Supply Chain Director for ÉOLANE explained: “The electronic component supply-chain is one of the most challenging and volatile with lead-times changing every week. Customers need more and more flexibility since they have less and less visibility. As a result, reacting as fast as possible to any market or customer changes is key for our competitiveness. And this is particularly true for high-mix low-volume businesses like ÉOLANE with hundreds of thousands of references to supply. The PRECOGS platform brings us this reactivity thanks to their direct connection to market offers in real-time.”
PRECOGS’ CEO and co-founder, Adrien Sandrini added: “We are proud of our collaboration with these leading European, tier-one EMS’s. It is very rewarding to see how a startup can bring significant results to large industrial groups like these. Results have exceeded our expectations and I foresee a wave of competitiveness on the way for electronics manufacturing businesses all over the world.”
