The ECIA announced today that “after a long, heartfelt and thoughtful discussion, the ECIA Board of Directors has made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Executive Conference scheduled to take place October 24-26 at the Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel.”
The conference had recently limited the event to vaccinated attendees only. The Covid-19 Delta variant has fueled severe outbreaks in several regions of the United States.
The ECIA board “expressed its deep gratitude for all the work done by the planning committee; the enthusiastic support of the sponsors, and the patience of those who registered for the event. This decision was not made lightly, but out of an abundance of caution, in view of rising Covid cases across the country this fall and the stress this adds to families. Even after assurances by the venue and the recently announced vaccination mandate, there is still concern about indoor events and the board decided the risk outweighs the benefit this year.”
Those who have registered will receive a full refund from ECIA. ECIA continues to host regular virtual events to inform and update its members. The dates for the 2022 Executive Conference event are October 23-25.
